Sungold cherry tomatoes are rarely larger than an inch wide, with fruits growing in clusters on long, indeterminate vines. Many of the sweetest tomato varieties are cherry tomatoes, as the sugar is nicely concentrated in small berry-like fruit. The sweetness of a ripe Sungold Tomato is intense and candy-like. These beauties have a tart taste when underripe, but become almost syrupy as they ripen on the vine. The Sun Gold Tomato is a small, orange, cherry-type Japanese hybrid tomato cultivar with a sugary-sweet taste when fully ripe. If you don’t own a springform pan, line a loaf tin with baking paper or cling wrap and pour your ice cream mixture in it to set and unmold before serving. Before serving remove from the freezer and allow to sit on the counter for 10 minutes. Insert a wooden skewer in each ice cream cone and push the ends into the ice cream.
